Oskar Koller

The Nuremberg artist Oskar Koller (1925-2004) belongs to a generation that developed a life-affirming artistic attitude based on their experiences during the Second World War. His work, initially influenced by German Expressionism and the École de Paris, never lost its connection to nature and his own visual experiences. Koller developed his own visual language, which increasingly focused on areas of colour and graphic elements. Artistic journeys to Europe, Asia and Africa broadened his artistic spectrum. In addition to around 20,000 individual works, he created numerous designs and interior designs. This book invites readers on a journey through Koller's work, which outshines the hardships of the world with its joy of painting. It is a tribute to the sensuality of art and the power of vision - moving, multi-layered and timeless. It contains introductory texts by Hans-Peter Miksch, former private secretary to Oskar Koller, and Andrea Dippel, as well as an inventory catalogue documenting the Kunstvilla collection.
